I love the sketches that Stamping 411 offer – here is this weeks sketch #159.

I was wanting to use one of the stamp sets that is in this month’s Two-Step stamp promotional sale with Stampin’ Up!

I actually haven’t used my Big Bold Birthday stamp set for a  while, so it was nice to play again with it.  This set will be retiring at the end of August so now is the time to purchase while there is an additional 20% off on the sale!  (See 3rd July posting for list of sale stamps)

I have made  a couple of different colour variations but this is my pink one.  I have sponged the Pink Piroutte before attaching to the Soft Suede base card.  Then run the Melon Mambo strip through the big shot with embossing folder to give some texture.

I pieced together the cake and then applied Dazzling Diamonds to the cake frosting and some Crystal Effects to the flame on the candle, again to add more texture.  I have then layered the Whisper White onto Melon Mambo onto Soft Suede then attached to the card with dimensionals.  The sentiment has been attached with dimensionals as well, so this card is really ‘layered’!  Unfortunately the punch isn’t available in Australia yet.

Card: Soft Suede, Pink Pirouette, Melon Mambo, Whisper White

Ink: Melon Mambo, Soft Suede

Other: Dazzling Diamonds (glitter), Crystal Effects, Dimensionals, Swiss Dots embossing folder (non SU)

Until later, happy stampin’

Stamping 411 – Colour Inspiration #131

I liked the colours that Stamping 411 had in Patti’s Colour Inspiration #131

So had a fun night (last night) creating a few cards using these colours & this is the card I was most happy with, using my old favourite stamp set Priceless

(I don’t think the light was too good when I took this picture)

Of course I just love my Stamp-a-ma-jig to make sure my sentiments are always just were I want it – with this card centred & of course straight!

Layering colours always give more impact, so don’t be afraid to add lots – something I’m guilty of not doing sometimes!

I added a bit of bling with the Rhinestone centre on my flower – which is how I attached it to my card.  I then I cut out the butterfly & only attached along its body, both of these then gave a little dimension to my card.

Card: Old Olive, Rich Razzleberry, Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White

Ink: Old Olive, Rich Razzleberry, Tempting Turquoise

Stamp: Priceless, Heard from the Heart

Other: Ice Circles Rhinestone, Old Olive 1/4″ Grosgrain ribbon

Well I’m off to ‘play’ some more while I’m feeling creative.

Until later, happy stampin’

Other: Rose Red 1″ ribbon, Scallop Border Punch, Dimensionals, Pretties Kit

The second one I just changed my contrast colour:

Card: Rose Red, Kiwi Kiss, Raspberry Tart DSP

Ink: Rose Red, Kiwi Kiss

Stamp: Vintage Vogue

Other: Rose Red 1″ ribbon, Scallop Border Punch, Dimensionals, Rhinestones (non SU)

I love being able to make handmade custom gifts.

Until later, happy stampin’

Just Add Ink #25

Well after many attempts working with the colour challenge over on Just Add Ink #25 I’ve finally decided on this card to post – although a little plain.

This was the colour combination to use:

This card had lots of layering:

I have stamped my flower image on Very Vanilla before layering on Elegant Eggplant then on Rose Red.  I then attached my ribbon prior to layering onto the Soft Suede base card, the ribbon has been attached with the polka dot side down.  The sentiment was then stamped on Very Vanilla & punched it out with 1 1/4″ circle, before layering on 1 3/8″ Rose Red circle & then attached to Elegant Eggplant Scallop Circle –  this was then added to the card with Dimensionals to give some dimension to the card.

Card: Soft Suede, Rose Red, Elegant Eggplant, Very Vanilla

Ink: Soft Suede, Rose Red

Stamp: Asian Artistry (Level 2 Hostess set), Think Happy Thoughts

Other: Soft Suede Polka Dot 1/2″ grosgrain ribbon, Scallop Circle, 1 1/4″ Circle, 1 3/8″ Circle punches, Dimensionals

Until later, happy stampin’

STAMPING 411 – SSC158 (updated)

I got a little creative last night, which surprised me as had a nausea bug over the weekend and last time I was sick it took me forever to get back into creating!  My son unfortunately came down with the same thing last night as well only he had worse symptoms poor boy (the floor of his car is proof of that!).

I love getting inspiration from sketches over on Stamping 411 and this weeks sketch SSC 158 is simple yet elegant.

Here is my card, although I might try again with another stamp set and colours later in the week.

Card: So Saffron, Not Quite Navy, Very Vanilla

Ink: Not Quite Navy

Stamp: Friends 24-7

Other: So Saffron 5/8″ Grosgrain Ribbon, Hemp Twine, Swiss Dots Embossing Folder (non SU)

UPDATE (7.7.10)

I’m updating my card from the above as something wasn’t just quite right in my eyes when I posted yesterday, so I just added another layer as well as an image under my bird on a new card….. umm next time I should just wait to see if I’m completely happy before posting!

With this card I have masked my bird image before stamping the second image with So Saffron of which I stamped off the ink.

Masking is where you stamp the same image on another piece of paper & cut exactly around the image – I use a post a note so I have some “sticking” already there, or you can use repositioning tape on the back – then position over the original stamped image.  This allows you to stamp another image over the top & yet it looks to the background when completed.  If you don’t want the background image to be too bold then by stamping off the ink – ink up stamp, stamp on scrap paper, then using stamp again without reinking – will give a softer lighter image.

What do you think, did this improve my first attempt???

Until later, happy stampin’

Mojo Monday 145

Well its almost time for the Mojo Monday team to post a new sketch as this is last Monday’s sketch – Sketch 145

This is my card which I’m sending to a dear friend with a small gift as I’ve been very slack getting some photos to her.

Card: Not Quite Navy, Ruby Red, Very Vanilla, Bella Bleu designer series paper

Ink: Not Quite Navy

Stamp: Vintage Vogue, Best Yet (Hostess Level 1 set)

Other: Eyelet Border, 1 3/8″ Circle, Scallop Circle punches, Very Vanilla 5/8″ Grosgrain ribbon, Fire Circle Rhinestone brad, Dimensional
