Paper Players

28 Sep

I couldn’t help but use my new stamps Precious Butterflies & Creative Elements (for its butterfly) again.  I’m not the biggest lover of the clear mount stamps, but I bought both these in this style of stamp mount as I thought I might not use them as much, but now that I have I’m really loving them & wish I’d got them in wood mount which I prefer to stamp with….. oh well they might help convert to liking clear mount more….lol

I haven’t tried Paper Players sketches before, so this is my first with them.  Hope you like my take on their sketch.

A close up of the little butterfly which I used the rock n roll technique on – just to give a hint of black on the wings.

This week’s sketch #65

Card: Whisper White, Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler

Ink: Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler

Stamp: Precious Butterflies, Creative Elements, Petite Pairs

Other: non SU embossing folder

Precious Butterflies

27 Sep

Time to play with only NEW stamps this time….. I know it’s about time!

So for this card I’m using one of my favourite sketch blogs – Stamping 411.  I’ve made a few cards recently with their sketches & then missed the linky to their site.

I still had colours out on my desk from a card I made on the weekend – Early Espresso & Regal Rose.  So decided to use them again, except I swapped the Very Vanilla for Whisper White.

As you know I like my butterflies to be free, so I stamped it & cut it out mounting only at the centre so its wings are free!

 This is sketch 222

Card: Whisper White, Regal Rose, Early Espresso

Ink: Regal Rose, Early Espresso

Stamp: Precious Butterflies, Happiest Birthday Wishes (Hostess stamp set), Creative Elements

Other: Scallop Circle Bigz die, Circle Scissors, 5/8″ Whisper White Organza Ribbon, Clear Rhinestone Brad

Happy Birthday Kim

26 Sep

It is my lovely friend & hairdresser Kim’s birthday today.  Happy Birthday Kim!

Kim has been my hairdresser since my son Ben was a baby….oh my gosh that’s around 20yrs!  I followed her when she moved salons & five years ago she had twin boys but she continued to do my hair at home.  Kim won many awards during her career and now is a bridal hairstylist & make-up artist.  I love seeing her twin boys, who know I always turn up with a ‘surprise’ for them.

I made this card using a sketch and colour challenge over on Inkspirations 4U! – this is a group you can sign up to for some wonderful project tutorials & challenges.

My card:

I also made her one of my little chocolate pull-outs.

This was the sketch & the colour challenge was – Early Espresso, Cajun Craze, Pool Party

I hope she likes these!  I always make the boys a special card for their birthdays & christmas – Kim has kept each one of them.

Stamp: Precious Butterflies, Love Defined (retired), A Happy Heart (retired)

CLEAN & SIMPLE

20 Sep

Now my card started off as clean & simple….. but then I kinda thought it was a little too simple, so decided to distress it, so not sure it’s as simple as it should be… lol

I used the new In Colours Colour Coach for my colour palette for this card – Wisteria Wonder, Cherry Cobbler, Pink Pirouette

I love leaving my butterflies to be “free” as you can see

This week’s sketch over at Clean & Simple – 158

Inkspiratons 4U! Clean & Simple

17 Sep

I’ve combined a sketch from Clean & Simple to go with a colour challenge over on Inkspirations 4U!  Not quite sure if I’ve kept it quite “simple” enough.

This is my first card using some new stamps from the 2011-2012 Idea Book & Catalogue.  This is the Flower Fest stamp set and it co-ordinates with lots of punches, so I’m looking forward to using this set more.

The colours for the challenge with Inkspiration 4U were Riding Hood Red, River Rock & Chocolate Chip

I stamped a few images of my flower & cut them different sizes to layer them up, but if using as single image this stamp fits the 2 3/8″ scallop circle.  I used the new Textured Jumbo Wheel roller to add a little extra colour to my Riding Hood Red mat.

This is this week’s sketch over on Clean & Simple – 157

Card: Riding Hood Red, River Rock, Chocolate Chip

Ink: Riding Hood Red, River Rock, Chocolate Chip, Versamark

Stamp: Flower Fest, Short & Sweet, Texture Jumbo Wheel roller

Other: Scallop Trim Border punch, Clear Embossing Powder, Dimensionals, Rhinestone Jewel

Remember this lovely set co-ordinates with lots of punches – 5 punches in fact, so if you’d like to know more or wish to place an order please contact me!

Until later, happy stampin’

Happy Birthday Nev

16 Sep

It’s David’s father’s birthday today – Happy Birthday Nev!

We’ve just got back from a BBQ dinner with the family, so I thought I’d share my card.  I know another male card in such a short time, unusual for me hey!!

Now I have yet to order new ‘male’ stamp sets from the new catalogue, so I dragged out retired set Sense of Time.

Here’s another angle

Card: Baja Breeze, Early Espresso, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake

Ink: Early Espresso, Crumb Cake

Stamp: Sense of Time (retired), Teeny Tiny Sentiments

Other: Curly Label punch, Jewlry Tag punch, Dimensionals, cricut to cut letters

Until later, happy stampin’

Happy Birthday Marie!

14 Sep

Today is my lovely friend Marie’s big “0″ birthday.  We visited her last weekend to catch up after she & her husband moved back to Queensland.

As her husband & children weren’t able to be around to help her celebrate today I thought I’d surprise her by sending her a little something just so she knew I was thinking of her.

Again I’ve used something just retired, but the first of my new products only arrived yesterday from the new Idea Book & Catalogue.

Here’s a close up of the card, I used dimensionals to mount my butterfly & scallop circle.  I cut my 60 with my cricut machine.

I love these little chocolate treats

Card: Pink Pirouette, Early Espresso, Baja Breeze, Very Vanilla

Ink: Early Espresso, Pink Pirouette, Baja Breeze

Stamp: Thanks for Caring, Well Scripted

Until later, happy stampin’

Happy Birthday David

12 Sep

I will admit I struggle a little with masculine cards & especially what to do for David for his birthday card.

Then I thought of Dragonflies & how he loves to take photos of them if we see them, so I decided to use Nature’s Nest stamp set.

Card: Pacific Blue, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Pear Pizzazz

Ink: Pacific Blue

Stamp: Nature’s Nest, On Your Birthday

Other: Bird Builder punch, Scallop Edge Border punch

Happy Birthday honey!

Until later, happy stampin’

Special friends

12 Sep

I received a beautiful little gift from my stamping friend Carolyn McPherson on Friday for my birthday last week.  Carolyn & I have become friends through Stampin’ Up! but yet not met, but one day we will manage to do that.

Thank you so much Carolyn, just love the little ribbon flower which is in fact a little brooch…. isn’t it just soooo pretty & of course in my favourite colour PINK!!!  Isn’t that rhinestone centre just so gorgeous!

I just happened to be looking on Carolyn’s blog on Thursday & as I started to read it, it mentioned the post was about something for her friend Kerri & I thought ooh is that for me??  But being the way I am & I LOVE surprises & gifts, I actually closed her blog before I saw any pictures, as if it was for me I wanted to see it in person first…… crazy I know!  So I was quite excited to find mail waiting for me on Friday when I got home.

Thank you so much Carolyn – I love it.

Until later, happy stampin’
